we DEFINE ourselves

I recently had a buyer/client of mine ask me, "why do you re-invest in this newest technology so heavily and so often, it can't be cost effective". We discussed this at length. It made me ponder the philosophy of why-do-it-well when so many take a different path?

He argued it wasn't in the interest of the highest ROI if I kept buying the "latest and greatest gadget" as I could afford them. I had to agree...............in part.

The ROI does suffer on some of the jobs we do because the "best" is not applicable to that particular job or situation.

My point of view is, you judge a man by the quality of his tools.                                                                 If someone is willing to compromise his quality, that will come through in in the final job.


You have to have something that sets you apart. The ROI will be there if you strive to do the best job, with the best equipment, every time.That always gets noticed.

The ROI is not always the bottom line.

We recently went to Lake crossovers in the Xlc rig. The XTA's were doing a good job. They were a large step (quality wise) above the DX-38's we had been using. But the ability to walk the room and balance EVERY parameter of the PA function wirelessly with a tablet PC, was just too good a thing to pass up. It's a dream come true for a system engineer.

We then re-packaged the amp racks to match each other in sensitivity and have matching input/output panels. A LOT of shop work, with very little if anything to show a customer or client.

Makes no difference, I can tell the difference.

Dan you are 100% correct in what you have said. Quality is having the right tools. Your ROI will always come back to you. Success is built on dedication and having those tools.

First things first, you should set a limited target date when ever you are going to completely quit, including 2-3 weeks from now. Use these circumspectly however, while they may lower blood glucose levels, that is an unsatisfactory effect in males whose blood glucose levels are properly balanced.
